Philippians 4:12–13 (NIV): 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 is one of the most quoted and loved verses in the Bible. Many of us have memorized it.
Sports teams have it written on banners.
Youth groups have it printed on t-shirts.
However, what most people don’t understand is that it doesn’t necessarily mean what they think it means.
Most people use this verse to cheer them onto victory. But that’s not at all what Paul is saying.
